Building Faith, One Verse at a Time

Awana Program

On Wednesday evenings, our children our engaged in Bible study, scripture memorization, and fun group activities through our Awana program.

Our children are separated into groups including Cubbies, ages 3-5K, Sparks, ages 1st grade – 3rd grade, and T&T, ages 4th grade – 6th grade.

We begin our evening with Opening Ceremonies at which time we pledge our American flag, our Christian flag, our Bible, and our Awana flag. We open the floor to kids for prayer requests and end with a fun song that generally involves dancing or motions of some sort. Then, we are off to the fellowship hall for dinner.

Kids are able to enjoy a meal prepared or purchased by adult volunteers each week while they have time to sit and chat about what may be happening in their lives. Our Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T are divided into groups for game time, group Bible lesson, and one on one scripture memorization and Bible study with an adult. This one-on-one time provides an opportunity for relationships to be formed between kids and adults creating bonds that will last a lifetime.

During our small group Bible study time, these students are learning to recite the books of the Bible and most of them can already name more books than many adults. It is amazing to see their growth.

During our game time, kids are allowed to enjoy fun activities sometimes indoors and sometimes outdoors. Games include charades, giant Jenga, kickball, sidewalk chalk, relay races, and many more.
